At 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening, the Falcons played the Capital Christian Cougars at home. Passing turnovers headlined the 1st quarter for the Falcons, but they were still able to get some points and put their foot down on defense to keep it 16-12 Cougars. In the 2nd quarter the Falcons cleaned up their turnovers and capitalized on their free throws from the physical Cougars, but the Falcon’s defense could not stop the fast cougars as they led 39-28. The Cougars started to separate themselves from the Falcons as the Falcons had a hard time scoring on the defensively sound Cougars. The Falcons also had a hard time containing the Cougar’s offense as they went up 57-33. The Falcons fought back hard in the 4th quarter as they tried to prevent a blowout and came within 9 points of taking the lead, but the Cougars were not having it as they got back in rhythm and took the game at 77-58. The top three scorers for the Falcons were Garret Souza ‘23 and Andrew McClendon ‘24 with 9 points, and Kamari Simpson ‘24 with 8 points. The Falcons are now 13-14 on the season and look to even out their season with a win against the El Camino Eagles on senior night. The last time these two teams played it came down to the final seconds, so this is sure to be a great game! The Falcons play the Eagles tomorrow night at home, so make sure to come out for your seniors!
