Men’s Varsity Basketball
Last Friday night was yet another chance for the boys to advance in the Division 3 playoffs. The opponent, Golden Valley, made the trip from Merced to Falcon Country. Both teams played great from the opening tip. Your Falcons led the way most of the game and were winning by 1 going into the 4th quarter. The Falcons did everything they could to keep their season alive but in the end, Golden Valley was able to make some clutch free throws to secure the victory. The final score GV 66 CB 57. This brought a very good bounce back season to a close. We are very proud of the Varsity Team who finished the season with an overall record of 17-13. Thank you for all the support this season!!! See you all again next season.

Women’s Varsity Soccer
Last Tuesday night the Lady Falcons traveled to Manteca to play Sierra High School. It would be a number 1 seed Sierra versus the number 4 seed Lady Falcons. The first half was an exchange of possession between the two powerhouses. The half would end scoreless. Second half was also scoreless, until the last 20 minutes. This is when defender Kristen Lee (22) threw in the ball to center back Ainsley Carroll (20) who crossed the ball into Sierra's box where Lexi Rakela (21) headed the ball into the back of the net. Minutes later, Sierra would come back with a shot that went through the hands of goalkeeper Lauren Towne (20). CB would keep the pressure on Sierra and this would pay off. With about 9 minutes left, Jordan Pieretti (21) placed a left footed shot low to the far corner out of the reach of the Sierra goalkeeper. This would put CB up 2-1. CB would drain the clock and seal the deal to advance to the section finals this Saturday at Liberty Ranch High School in Galt. Kickoff time 4:00
JV Softball
JV softball participated in 3 scrimmages this last Saturday vs Woodcreek, El Camino, and Armijo. For some, it was their first “game time” experience. Having never played the game, our new Lady Falcons did a great job. Key contributors were pitchers Lilianna Sanchez ’22 and Olicia Martinez ’23 who will be taking the bulk of the pitching duties this season. Tori Becker ’23 enjoyed a multi-hit day and Sarai Rice ’22 had a nice day at the plate connecting on a hit deep into the outfield for extra bases. Nerves might have played a role early on, but the team will learn to settle down and keep composed. JV softball will look to build on what they’ve learned this Saturday for another 3-game scrimmage at Inderkum High School and then play in their first preseason game next Tuesday March 3 vs Inderkum High. Go Brothers!
Varsity Softball
This past Saturday we got a glimpse of what to expect this season in 3 scrimmages at Inderkum. We will return to Inderkum this Saturday playing 3 more scrimmages at 9:35, 1:55, and 4:05pm to get one more opportunity on the field before our real season starts! We kick off our season with a game against Inderkum at Inderkum on March 3 at 3:45pm. Our very own Grace Tangen ‘20, was named to the 2020 Softball San Joaquin Section Players to Watch. Games are right around the corner and we are excited to step on the field and start competing!
Men’s Lacrosse
Men's lacrosse is in full swing and ready to kick off the season this week. We play at Rio on Tuesday and our home opener is Thursday at 5pm against Woodcreek. Could it be the first game played at the newly dedicated Peter P. Bollinger '57 stadium?? We have 17 returning players, and added some extremely strong freshman, along with a new sophomore. In addition, Clayton Ketcher '21 joins the team, dual sporting between Track and Field sprinting and Lacrosse. Leading scorers from 2019 Sam Ketcher '22 and Tyler Valerio '21 both return and are ready to light it up. Come out and watch!
Women’s Lacrosse
The JV Women’s lacrosse team had their first game this week against Bella vista. Although they did not bring home a win, they played very well for their first game with great teamwork and hustle. Julia Brouseau ‘22 was the lead scorer with three goals for the game. The girls have been practicing hard all week in anticipation for their next game 2/28 against cardinal Newman.
Varsity Lacrosse played in a nail bitter against Bella Vista losing 10-11 in OT. Lily Witry ‘20 scored 4 goals, Megan Cann ‘22 scored 3, Simone Leforestier ‘22 and Shannon Wong ‘23 scored their first varsity goals. At one point with about 5 minutes left the team was down 4 goals they rallied back to tie it with a minute left. They held the Broncos right until the last 10 seconds of OT. They girls worked as a team and are excited for their game 2/28 hoping to clench their first win against Cardinal Newman.
Swimming
On Monday, February 10, the CB swim season started off with a splash. 81 swimmers dove right into the season with daily practice at Hoos Pool on the Sacramento City College campus. Daily workouts average 3000 Yards and typically shift focus from endurance, to speed, to technique. Returning varsity swimmers include Abby Fox (’22), Dylan Deluchi (’21), Thomas Piper (’21), Raphael Lobo (’21) and Emma Busch (’20). There is a lot of new talent on the team including freshman swimmers Abby Fox and Abby Hurst. Special kudos go out to seniors Marissa Adolphson , Chloe Splinter and Malia Wienstoer who are swimming competitively for the first time! This Friday, February 28, swimmers will compete against one another in the Red/Blue time trial meet to get accurate times for placement in future meets. The swimmer’s short season starts on March 10 with a dual meet vs. El Camino followed by the Woodcreek Invitational that weekend.
Men’s Tennis
Tryouts finished and we have a full team of 21 players, the biggest team in years. We have 15 new players with three new sophomores and a dozen new Freshman. We have an ambitious 19 match schedule beginning next week. We play Cordova High, Florin and River City on three consecutive days. We are very excited about being included in the Northern Cal. Tennis Tournament hosted by Rocklin High School on 3-13 and 3-14-20. So we have 10 league matches, 5 out of conference matches and a tournament. The lineup looks the same at the top with Chris Fong ‘20 at 1, Anthony Tan Andia ‘21 at 2 and Sean Johnson ‘22 at 3. Captain Alex, “El Jefe” Stone ’21 will play at 4.
