Bryan Garrett ‘21 was the leading receiver, with 6 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. However, the big story in the game was the Falcons’ dominance running the ball. Women’s Golf
CB had one match this week beating Sacramento High School 209 -340. 209 represents a milestone the team was trying to achieve by scoring under 210 as a team. CB breaks the 210 barrier this year lead by Brie Briggs '23 very sharp 39. Her round included a birdie and an eagle 3 on the last hole. Anna Horan '21 and Grace Paterson '20 fired very nice 41's to help CB reach this fine score. Are there more sub-210 round in our future, come out and see this team get hot!
Senior night is Tuesday at Bing Maloney, 3:30 pm vs. Del Campo. Four outstanding seniors who have contributed over the years to make the program we have come to life. Carly Krause ‘20, Carina Singer ‘20, Kat Maebori ‘20 and Grace Patterson ‘20 all have been valued and appreciate for their years of competing on the varsity level for CB. Thank you to the players and families for their support, hard work and top-flite performance over these past four years.
CB will wrap-up league play with a trip to Anicil Hoffman to face the El Camino Eagles on 10-10-19 for a 3:30 pm start. This will prove to be a good course to prepare the team for the CAL#2 playoff tournament the following Monday at the Allister MacKenzie course on the 10-14-19.

Men’s Varsity Water Polo
The varsity boys this Wednesday had one of the best games that I have seen them play all year. We faced arch-rival Rio Americano for our final home game of the season. It was an extremely exciting game for those of you who were there. We began the game on such a strong foot with senior captain Sam Noonan ('20) with the first goal of the game. Rio Americano was finding it difficult to find the back of the goal with a few attempts on goal, with no success. About halfway through the first quarter, Sam was ejected for a major foul, giving Rio an advantage that they were able to execute, tying the game. CB did not let the score stay there long with another goal from Sam, bringing the score to 2-1. In the last few seconds of the first, an off-kilter shot from Rio tied the game 2-2 in the first. Almost in the same stroke of success as the first, CB opened the second quarter with a fast goal from senior Colin Quinn ('20). Rio then took advantage of a man-up possession and, almost in step with the first, put another goal away bringing the score to 3-3. CB continued their fight, keeping neck and neck with Rio, relying on our senior strength to steal, shoot, and counter with force. The third quarter, our stamina began to fall slightly with an injury to our goal tender and fatigue in the field. During a man-up possession earned by Sam Noonan ('20), CB's starting sophomore Patrick Cahill ('22) found the goal, bringing the energy back into the room. The fourth quarter was owned by our senior “Quinn Twins”, who both scored almost one after another 3 goals right in a row for CB. Senior captain Caleb Quinn ('20) kept the defense locked down, completely shutting down Rio Americano's 6'6 center with his smart play. Another highlight from the game was our emergency goaltender, when our goalie was injured, was senior captain David Pearson ('20) who stepped in to cover when we needed someone there. He faced 9 shots on frame total, and made 7 saves, which was great coming from a field player. Christian Brothers finished the game 9-12 with a loss, but fought extremely hard in a game that was closer than I have ever seen against this team. I cannot wait to see Rio again in our league championship game. Well done Falcons!
Men’s JV Water Polo
Our JV boys this week had a very tough game against Rio Americano High School. Beginning the game on a tough note, the boys faced competition like we have not seen yet this season. With our defense being held together by freshman captain Griffin Maloy ('23), CB finished the first quarter down by 2. The second quarter, Rio had an early goal, which CB met with a 3 goal streak from Griffin Maloy ('23) and Matthew Lynn ('22). Rio sent a rebuttal with a few points and then Griffin, finding himself in front of the goal, earned a 5m penalty on Rio's goal keeper. Griffin was unstoppable finishing out the quarter with 3 more points for CB. The third quarter began on a rough foot, as Rio took advantage of some 50/50 passes, bringing Rio up 5 goals. In the end, CB's final point was scored from a weak-handed shot from Jack Vicari ('23). CB's goal tender, Rowen Antony ('22), excelled, blocking at exactly 50.0%. In the end, the JV boys fought very hard for every minute of the game and did extremely well, finishing the game with a score of 8-12. The JV boys are heading to Whitney High School this weekend to participate in the Del Oro JV Invitational, where we will be met with some great games. Good luck to our young falcons this weekend!
Women’s Varsity Water Polo
The varsity girls game against Rio Americano was another one that was a tough challenge. Our girls began the game with high energy, finishing the first quarter 2-5, against a team that in the past has opened with a 9 goal lead. The girls had a difficult second quarter, beginning to show some fatigue, but pushed hard, led by senior captain Abby Kauss ('20) scoring all of our goals for CB. In the end, it was a difficult game to assess because there was so much swimming back and forth from both teams. Highlights came from our freshman goal tender Logan Tiska ('23) who got her hands on so many balls with 12 saves in a difficult game where she saw so many shots. She handled herself well and shows great potential for being an extremely strong goal keeper. Senior captain Emma Busch ('23) also kept Rio's offense at bay with some very dynamic defense, almost appearing everywhere and swimming 2m-2m often to back up her team. Sophomore Brooke Brandenburger ('22) also had an extremely good game, making strong passes and drives, and creating movement when there was none. I would also like to highlight sophomore Abby Fox ('22) and sophomore Liza Mikacich ('22) who are both incredible swimmers, who really gave Rio a run for their money when it came to sprinting. All in all, the girls held up extremely well under some intense pressure and came out strong in a hard game against the 3 time D2 Champions. Final score was 2-14. Excellent job falcons!
Women’s JV Water Polo
The JV girls also had a tough game against Rio Americano High School this week. With lots of great swimmers and attackers on Rio's team, CB struggled to read the defense and finish our shots. It wasn't until the second quarter that CB got our first goal from freshman Maddy Brennan ('23). Our freshman class showed to be very strong in this game, seeing a whole lot of minutes and our only 3 points coming from freshman girls. Counting Maddy's goal, we also had a goal from Isabel McCormick ('23) and Carolyn Kauss ('23) who are all showing great potential. The JV girls finished the game yesterday with a 3-20 loss, but learned a lot in the process and worked extremely hard. The JV girls this weekend are heading to Napa for the JV Crusher Classic where we will see some tough competition. Good luck to all our young athletes!
