Final score: CB 9 - Capital Christian 0.
The following day we travelled to Bella Vista. This would be a bit more of a challenge. The match was played on a cold Friday night as the team was winding up a three game week. Bella Vista presented more pressure and displayed more skill than the other opponents earlier in the week. The Lady Falcons scores first with Junior Bella Pond (21) finding the back of the net. Toward the end of the first half, Junior Lexi Rakela (21) had a firecracker of a shot outside of the box to put CB up 2-0 at half. In the second half we move the ball round very well keeping Possession and controlling the game. Lexi Rakela (21) put in the final goal to kill any hopes for Bella Vista. Final score 3-0 victory for CB. Next up … Foothill.
This past Tuesday CB hosted Foothill. As in the game against Capital Christian Out Lady Falcons would put on a passing and finishing clinic. It only took 1:15 for the goal gates to open. On Thursday our Lady Falcons traveled to El Dorado Hills for a battle with D1 powerhouse Oak Ridge. The first half found our Falcons struggling to find their game. Bad passing and panic seemed to plague the flow of our game. Oak Ridge scores first on what looked to be an offside goal. This should have jumped started CB to play better, but we struggled to finish the half. Second half we started to play better with a valiant efforts from Senior Mariah Hudnut (20), and Goalkeeper Lauren Towne (20). When the final whistle blew our Lady Falcons were defeated 2-0. It was a tough night! Next up league rivals Rio Americano on January 7th.

Winning both games put the Falcons in the Championship game on Saturday night.
Saturday morning the boys lost a heart breaker in the last seconds of the games against Pittsburg HS 2-1. Demonte Robinson '22 headed in the equalizer early in the 2nd half. Despite the heartbreaking lost the boys were happy they put themselves in the championship game by playing smart soccer.
The boys went on to played a great Championship game but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. The coaching staff is very proud of the team performance in the tournament.
Up next for the Falcons is a tough match today at McClatchy HS. Final Result 0-0 tie.
Men’s Varsity Soccer
The men’s varsity soccer team travelled to De La Salle last Saturday to compete in the DLS Showcase. The boys were matched up against Patterson H.S. in this event. The team came out slow to begin the game and found themselves in a 2-0 hole. At halftime, the team made some adjustments (mainly mental) and came out firing in the 2nd half. CB quickly earned a penalty kick, that junior Tyler Valerio ’21 slotted home to bring the score to 2-1. This goal gave the Falcons some motivation and sparked the offense. The team continued to battle and create scoring chances throughout the half. Senior RJ Dore ’20 made a great run along the right wing to get behind the Patterson defense. He then sent a great cross through the box, finding Valerio for another Falcons goal. After tying the game 2-2, the game continued to go back and forth. Patterson took the lead 3-2 off a defensive mistake, only to allow the Falcons to tie it up again at 3 off a goal from senior Scott Cotter ’20. However, the Tigers of Patterson would score the game-winner with 10 minutes remaining in the match and hold on for the win. While the Falcons were disappointed with the result, they were able to hold their heads high due the team’s effort and 'never-say-die' attitude.
The team traveled to McClatchy on Friday to face the Lions. This annual 'friendly' was an exciting contest from the beginning. Both teams came out determined to win the 'neighborhood cup', and applied pressure from the first minute of the game. The Lions almost scored in the 20th minute of the match. A long-ball was played from CKM into the goal area, but goalkeeper Johnnie White ’20 made a great save to keep the game tied at 0. The game stayed tied at 0 through halftime. As the second half began, the Falcons increased their intensity and pressure to create several good chances. After a number of quality combination plays, the Falcons broke the tie! Senior RJ Dore ’20 and Junior Cole Mellor ’21 connected on a nice 'give and go' to get through the Lions’ defense and Mellor slotted the shot past the McClatchy goalkeeper. The Lions responded by increasing their pressure, but they were continuously denied by Johnnie White, and the entire back line: Zach Santsche-Chavez ’21, Jackson Ryan ’20, Clark Jacobson ’20, Tyler Valerio ’21 and Caleb Quinn ’20. The final score: CB1 CKM 0. This was a well-deserved victory and enjoyed by the many alumni who came out to watch.
The team will take a break for the holidays, but will resume play on 1/7 against league-rival Rio Americano.
