The men’s and women’s cross country teams had their second meet of the season last Saturday at the Josh Ruff Trojan Invite at Willow Hill. The women’s varsity team made significant progress, finishing 8th out of 31 schools. Malia Gay ‘21 and Alicia Romani ‘23 once again led the team, finishing 7th and 14th overall out of 257 runners. The women’s freshman team won their meet, with Shannon Wong ‘23 (4th) and Alexande Moya ‘23 (5th) leading the way. The team as a whole did very well, with the 7 qualifiers all placing in the top 24 out of 93.
On the men’s side, the team placed 15th out of 44 schools. Ryan Dong ‘22 was the top runner, finishing 12th out of 347 runners. The men’s freshman team placed second in their meet. Tyler Simi ‘23 was their top runner, finishing 2nd overall.
Next up for both teams is the Pacific Tigers Invite. The meet will be next Saturday, September 21st at Elkhorn Country Club.
