The Christian Brothers Falcons defeated the Lodi Flames 68-62 on Saturday to improve to 3-1 on the year. Michael Moreno ‘21 scored a game high 20 points on a very efficient 7 of 9 shooting, including 3 of 4 on threes. Angelo Butler ‘20 also chipped in 11 points and 3 assists, and Elijah Covington ‘21 scored 10 points with 2 assists. Ryan Toschi ‘20 scored 7 points, hauled in 11 rebounds and had 4 assists.
The Falcons started the game out hot, jumping out to a 15-13 lead after the first quarter. They were able to outscore the Flames 23-10 in the second quarter to take 38-23 lead into halftime. Christian Brothers was up by 20 points at one point in the third quarter, but Lodi came storming back. The Flames tied the score with about 4 minutes left and it was a back and forth game from there. With the Falcons up one with about 45 seconds left, Elijah Covington hit a clutch three pointer to seal the Falcons’ win.
Next up for the Falcons is a tournament game against McClatchy High School (2-0). The matchup is part of the Bill Cartwright Invitational at Elk Grove High School. The game will be Thursday, December 5th at 4:00 pm.
