On Friday October 11th, the men’s water polo team jumped into the first day of the Jesuit Capital Classic Tournament. Their opening game was against the Clovis High School Cougars. The Falcons kept it tight for most of the game but the Cougar’s pulled away in the end resulting in a 9-5 loss for the Falcons.
Later that day, the boys took on Garces Memorial and had trouble finishing shots that were greatly needed. Only putting up 2 goals, the Falcons lost 7-2. Over the course of the weekend, Sam Noonan ’20 and Caleb Quinn ’20 played large roles in helping the Falcons out on offense and defense.
The next day the boys started off with an early morning game against Los Altos and experienced even more tough competition. Still struggling to get anything going on offense, the Falcons lost 9-4.
Finally, their last game was against the strongest team at the tournament; the Clovis North Broncos. Despite the dominance of the Broncos, the boys started showing glimpses of the type of water polo the coaches hoped to see. Losing 14-6, the Falcons came away with a lot of experience against competitive teams and are now more ready for the Section Playoffs in November.
The next game is away on Wednesday, the 16th, against Del Campo at 4:45.
