With four graduating starters on the Women's Softball team, the Falcons are looking for players to fill these crucial roles. The head coach, Chad Clay, announced the 2019 roster for this year’s varsity team, which includes the additions of Marissa Alders ‘22, Kennedy Cuhna ‘22, Victoria Fenner ‘21, and Grace Tangen ‘20.
Alders is a strong hitter and an even stronger pitcher. When she doesn’t pitch, she will play third base for the team and will provide a big bat, being placed in the middle of the lineup.
Cuhna will also provide a big bat for the team and is a crucial part of the Falcons’ middle infield. Being a versatile player, Cuhna has a strong arm and can play middle, infield, or outfield. On offense, Cuhna will not only bring experience to the team, but she will also bring speed on the bases.
Fenner was brought up last season for playoffs as a sophomore, introducing her to the increased intensity varsity softball requires. Along with Cuhna, Fenner will be an asset for the Falcons as a versatile player. As seen in recent scrimmages, where Fenner laid down numerous sneaky bunts and scoring crucial runs, Fenner will fill aid the Falcons by bringing speed on the bases and in the outfield.
Tangen is an experienced softball player that will bring expertise and experience to this team. In the February scrimmages at Inderkum, she hit fifth in the lineup and started at second base. In her first season on varsity, Tangen will be one to watch this spring.
The Falcons are enthusiastic about adding these four new athletes to the varsity roster alongside the seven returning seniors. Our Lady Falcons head into this spring season with high expectations on their road to winning a section banner.
