After the Falcons original opponent Valley High School canceled the game on Saturday, the Varsity Basketball Team had their home opener on Tuesday night against the Oakmont High School Vikings. After getting off to a hot start in the 1st quarter the falcons were up 14-6. When the 2nd quarter ended the falcons locked in defensively playing a press that got them some points to lead with a score of 30-13 going into half. After a bit of letting loose on defense due to miscommunications the falcons were still able to score on a few drives to the basket raising the score to 52-27 after the 3rd quarter. The Falcons were able to finish the game and send the Vikings sailing home with a score of 63-36. Jake Westman ‘23 and Joey Vanacore ‘23 both had a team-leading 12 points with Westman going 86% from the field and having 6 steals on the night. The Falcons move to 2-0 on the season after a solid victory. Their next game is against the Kennedy High School Cougars in the Bill Cartwright Classic.
