Last Saturday, the Christian Brothers Men’s rugby team took on Silicon Valley for a league match in San Jose. Unfortunately the boys suffered a devastating loss with a score of 73-15 with tries from Aidan O’Malley ‘19, Calvin Fiske ‘20, and Xavier Metcalf ‘21 who had the first Varsity try of his career. Fiske was awarded captain of the forwards and Metcalf was the captain of the backs. The boys played a better game in the second half but couldn’t pull through with the dub.
On Tuesday the team took on a traveling squad from Saint Louis, Missouri at home. The stand out player of this game was Jared Hunter ‘21 who scored 3 tries. He was also awarded captain and was given a Saint Louis practice jersey for his amazing performance.
The boys started out slow in the first half, but had a close second half keeping them to only one try. Unfortunately they still lost 44-17, but they are hoping to keep their positive attitude for playoffs.
The rugby team will be hoping to come together for a win this weekend against Bellarmine Prep at home. This will be their final game before playoffs so make sure to show up to support the boys at 10:30 on Saturday.
