This past Saturday, our Christian Brothers Women's Basketball took on Bradshaw Christian High School for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship. In the first quarter, our Lady Falcons had some trouble on the defense end, allowing the Bradshaw Christian Pride to score 15 points while the Lady Falcons only scored 7. In the second quarter, our Lady Falcons stepped up their offense as they scored 10 points and limited Bradshaw Christian to only 9 points. After the half, the Lady Falcons came back with a new mindset, ready to the lead. They managed to capitalize on the Pride’s lacking defense by going on a 14-0 run in the third quarter. The only senior on the young team, Chance Sims '19, helped initiate the Falcon's offense, scoring a total of 25 points. Bria Shine '20 also had a significant impact on the game by posting a double-double; she scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds. In the final quarter, the intensity from both times stepped up, but despite their efforts, the Lady Falcons were unable to take the lead and unfortunately lost 52-49.
While the Falcons were three points short from clenching the section championship, they will now focus their efforts on the Northern California State Tournament. Key player Chance Sims said that "The game [against Bradshaw Christian] definitely didn't go they way that I wanted but I think that it's important to use it as a learning experience going into NorCals. It honestly just made me want to win even more so I'm really excited [for the game] tonight." Christian Brothers is ranked as the one seed in division three and will face Union Mine this Tuesday at Christian Brothers at 7 PM.
