On Tuesday, the women’s varsity soccer team took on the Rio Americano Raiders in a tough league game matchup. The Falcons played hard throughout the half, fighting after the ball back and forth. Within the first few minutes of the start, Bailey Rakela (’25) drove through the Rio defense beating 4-5 players and finishing with a nice goal to the back of the net. Brothers were so hyped having scored a goal so early in the first half and kept spirits high. The Rio Raiders didn’t let up and got a goal right back when the Falcons weren’t expecting it, making the score 1-1. Our team did not let up having Caitlynn Drew (’23) dribbling the ball into Rio’s box and drawing a hard tackle foul to give Brothers a PK. Devin Greer (’24) took the amazing PK putting it in the bottom left corner and giving us a 2-1 lead into the 2nd half. As we kicked off the 2nd half the girls knew what they had to do. Twelve minutes in, Bailey Rakela (’25) had another amazing run into the Rio defense and they didn’t know how to stop this force, scoring another one into the net extending the gap 3-1. The Falcons didn’t stop playing their game. Rakela (’25) again receiving a great ball from a keeper punt, drove down the middle and had a great pass to Lily Jensen (’23) who then finished with a spectacular goal making the score 4-1. Another great game controlling the middle of the field and our defensive back line only giving up the one lone goal. The girls fought hard until the end and never let up when they were ahead. The women’s varsity soccer did amazing and played a hard-fought game against the Rio Americano Raiders. Your 10-1-3 Lady Falcons play next today at Del Campo.
