The Women’s Varsity soccer team celebrated their four senior athletes last Thursday in a home game against Rio Americano. It was a special night and the last regular season game for seniors Grace Cloete, Eliana Pellegri, Kristin Lee, and Claire LaRocca. LaRocca, who has missed the entire season due to injury was able to get on the pitch and take the opening kickoff before heading back to the sidelines, making the night even more memorable. The Lady Falcons then went to work knowing a league championship was on the line. The Rio Raiders were fierce and would not make it easy. The first half was mainly a back and forth affair until Genevieve Muskopf (’24) hit a banger of a shot from around 30 yds out giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The 2nd half provided lots of action from the defense who worked extremely hard, led by Emily Mayes (’23) and consistently good mid-field control from Elizabeth Ledesma (’23) and Bailey Rakela (’25). The Falcons were able to add to their lead with a spectacular header goal from senior Grace Cloete (’22) and the assist going to Ledesma (’23) from the corner, capping off an awesome varsity soccer career on senior night. With this 2-0 win, the Lady Falcons are your League Champs, sharing the honor with Vista Del Lago. Next game will be the start of section playoffs, starting on Friday at home. Game TBD.
