Round 2 Playoffs
Last night the Women’s Soccer team played their 2 nd round playoff game at home against #7 Patterson
High (14-5-3). Patterson, with their phenomenal goal scorer Senior Arionna Imhoff (38 goals), had the
opening kickoff and within the first few seconds took a shot that hit off the crossbar. From that moment
on, the Lady Falcons knew it would be a hard-fought game. The Falcons used possession and patience to wear down the Patterson defense. The score was a 0-0 battle until the last 5 minutes of the first half,
when Bailey Rakela (’25) hit a banger from 35 yds out over the outstretched hands of the goalkeeper.
This provided the much-needed spark and within minutes Genevieve Muskopf (’24) added her own spectacular shot from 30 yds out, again over the outstretched hands of the goalkeeper. The score was 2-0 going into halftime and the momentum was on CB’s side. The second half would provide much excitement as the Lady Falcons continued to possess and out pass their opponents in scoring 3 more additional goals from Elizabeth Ledesma (’23), Devin Greer (’24), and Rachal Davis (’24). Leading 5-0 midway through the 2 nd half, Patterson’s leading Senior goal scorer would not be denied. Imhoff added her own spectacular goal from 35 yds out. Fortunately for our Falcons, this would be all the scoring the Tigers would be allowed. The defensive back line lead by Emily Mayes (’23) and Grace Cloete (’22), was strong in protecting the goal and holding off the quickness of Patterson’s forward. CB Goalkeeper Grace Bettencourt (’23) had 3 crucial diving saves in preserving the victory. Final score was 5-1. It was a great overall team win and hopes are high going into the semi-final game vs.#3 Ponderosa (16-3). Next game is at home Friday, February 18 at 6:00 PM. Come out and support your Lady Falcons in their quest to make it to the Section Finals.
