Track and Field
Well, we're off and runnin'. The Clarke Massey Relays are in the books and there were some very nice results for early season. Leading the way was Ryan Dong ‘22 with a second place in the F/S 3200 in a PR 10:34.41. This
time places him among the best freshmen in our area. He also came back to anchor the F/S DMR to third place with a nice 5:01 1600. Joining him on this team were Jacob Schnetz ‘22, Raphael Lobo ‘21 and Mikey Petilla ‘21. Isaiah Jiminez ’19 led the Varsity squad with a third place in the 3200 as well as anchoring the DMR to another third place. He was helped out by Nevin, Enrique and Zach. Also running well were Jack Stokes ‘21, with PRs at both 3200 and 800, and Nico with a lifetime best over 800 as well.

The total medals won by the Falcon Track Team was 28, a very good start for the 2019 season.
Swim
The CB swim team had time trials last night to gauge where we are in the season! This was the first opportunity to practice racing this season, in preparation for our first league meet next week against El Camino. We had many strong swims last night from the JV girls. The Freshmen girls are looking strong this year with Liza Mikacich ’22, Corina Elliot ’22, Brooke Brandenburger ’22 and Abby Fox ’22. The freshmen boys have also started out strong this season with Luc Tran ’22, Parker Spellacy ’22 and Patrick Cahill ’22 leading the way. Last night was an exciting preview of how our varsity team is looking. Lead by team captain Hallie Mikacich ’19, Claire Ramos ’19, McKenna Purdy ’20, our girls Varsity team will be strong contenders in this year’s league meets. Last night, we had a showdown amongst the Varsity boys in the sprint events between team captain Nick Piper ’19, his brother Thomas Piper ’21, Dylan Delucchi ’21, Sam Noonan ’20 and the Quinn Twins, Colin and Caleb ’20. CB Swim is looking strong and is ready to take on the first league meet against El Camino on Thursday, March 7th!
Women's Lacrosse
With the cancellation of Wednesday’s game both lacrosse teams are eager for a game, especially JV! JV hasn’t played a game yet but they look forward to putting their skills to use. Both teams have been making the best of practices in the gym this week, they will head to Berkeley on Tuesday for a highly anticipated game!
Men's Lacrosse
The men's JV lacrosse team opened its season last Friday at Davis High School. While the team didn't come away with a win, they came away with a motivation for the next game. They put that ambition into play Tuesday night in Livermore, against Grenada High School's JV program. Kelliah Tarver '19 scored the first goal of the season and set the team on its way to a win. The team beat Grenada 5-3, with Kelliah Tarver '19 scoring two goals, Sam Ketcher '22 scoring two goals, and Rowan Antony '22 scoring one. Evan Recanzone ’19 played an impressive game in goal with defender Tyler Webster ’21 also putting in a strong performance. Assistant Coach Payton DeLeon has joined the coaching staff, working with the Long Stick Middies as well as the D-Poles on defense. The team takes on Jesuit next week (weather permitting).
Softball
Not a lot to report. Both Varsity and JV look to be strong this season, but due to all the liquid California sunshine, we have not yet played a game. Our first two outings have been rescheduled and the JV scrimmage was a rainout. However, the varsity was able to get in three 55-minute scrimmages vs. Armijo, River City and Inderkum. We can proudly say we are “undefeated” so far this season.
The JV softball team was hoping to get their first 2 games of the preseason in this week but the weather was not cooperating. With 6 games scheduled next week and rain again in the forecast, we’re hoping the weather improves soon. The girls are looking forward to some sun and are ready to compete.
Baseball
All three levels were able to dodge the rain Saturday 2/23 and scrimmage against McClatchy HS (Var/JV) and Folsom HS (Frosh). All three teams competed against quality competition and we saw a lot of good things.
All three Saturday 3/2 games vs Bear Creek have unfortunately been canceled, and we are trying to reschedule.
Fingers crossed we’ll be able to play our home opener vs McClatchy on Saturday 3/9. Please come out and cheer on your Falcons on.
Go CB, FALCONS FIRST!!!
Men's Varsity Volleyball
Men’s Volleyball finished preseason play this week with two tough opponents, Monterey Trail and Jesuit. On Monday, the falcons took on the mustangs in the foundation game. Battling through a really close first set, Christian brothers came out on top in extra points (29-27). CB would continue to push through (25-23, 19-25, 25-21) to beat Monterey Trail in four. Juniors Alonzo Aguillio ’20 and Riley Piccione ’20, secured the serve receive line with 14 and 10 passes, respectively. Elias Hensley ’20 lead his team in kills with 9. Overall, the team was able to come together to battle through a tough match and take the win.
On Wednesday, Christian Brothers hosted rival Jesuit in our annual Holy Court. Unfortunately for the Varsity team, unpredictable circumstances resulted in absences in the roster. Although incomplete, the Falcons played their hardest- falling short in three tough sets. The Men’s Volleyball program is incredibly grateful for the huge amount of love and support shown by their fans that night. Varsity plans to bounce back with a home match tonight against Sac High.
