Quote of the day:
“Never underestimate the power of one well-timed compliment. It has the power to change a person’s entire perspective on life. It has potential to change a person’s plot line for eternity. The right word at the right time can be the catalyst for someone else’s miracle.”

Women’s Varsity Basketball
Your lady Falcons took home the DIII Section championship beating Manteca 50-33. After trailing in the 1st quarter, CB caught their stride turned the defense up and extended the lead from there. Leading the way was Faith Mucheru ‘21 with 12 points, Bria Shine ‘20 had 11 point and 17 rebounds while Sarah Jackson ‘21 chipped in 10 points. Another great team win for another blue banner! A huge shout out to the School administration who let our students out early to come cheer us on at Golden One. Let me tell you, they showed up and out! Winning is so much sweeter when you have the school backing you! Thank you student body for the love and support of these young ladies!!!
The ladies took the court Tuesday 3/3 in the first round of the State tournament versus American out of Fremont, CA. Despite being bumped to division II, these girls came out strong and on fire! Going into the half leading by 11. Unfortunately American got hot and for the rest of the game it was a back and forth battle that extended into overtime action. The ladies took a tough loss in OT losing by 2 points on a shot with 2.9 seconds left. Faith Mucheru ‘21 had a huge night knocking in 19 points, followed by Bria Shine ‘20 who had 16 points. Karli Cooper ‘22 was money from the line and chipped in 8 points!
Big shout out to our seniors!
Laney Prichard ‘20- was a solid force all year! Her defense, intensity and hard work we could always count on. Thank you for all that you have done at CB and for our program! Good luck next year at Boise!

Bria Shine ‘20- A 4 year varsity starter. CO-captain past two years and Earning CAL league MVP this year! No denying what she brought to our program; Leadership, skill and toughness. We appreciate your time and commitment to our program! Good luck at Davis next year! We will take a team bonding trip to watch you play!
Isa Warford ‘20- Isa is another Falcon who took on a role and accepted it. She was someone when called on, she got up, got out there and handled her business which one of the most important roles on a team! Going to miss her smile and shenanigans! Such a great team captain and team player! Thank you Isa! Good luck next year!!!
Rugby

Women’s Varsity Soccer
Last Saturday The Lady Falcons advanced to the CIF Division Section Finals. They would face Manteca. The first half looked very promising. CB took charge of the first half with possession and a plethora of shots on goal and off frame. Grace Cloete (22) collected the first goal to put CB up 1-0 early in the game. The half came to an end with The Lady Falcons up and in charge 1-0. In the second half Manteca manage a goal to tie up the match. CB managed to out shoot Manteca in the second half, but with 5 minutes left Manteca scored and The Lady Falcons would come up short in the Section Finals. Final score 2-1 victory to Manteca. Next up for CB Nor Cal Regional.
Tuesday night our Lady Falcons made the 3-hour road trip to Santa Cruz High School. It would be their first round game in Nor Cal Regional against the number 3 seed. In the first half CB found themselves struggling to find a rhythm to play short and simple. Santa Cruz seemed to control the first half. The half ended scoreless. In the second CB did find a spark and began to play short and simple soccer. This led to more control and shots on-goal for CB. With 15 minutes left Brooklyn Horst (23) received a ball from Lexi Rakela (21) to slot the ball far post to put CB ahead 1-0. At that point The Lady Falcons parked the bus to drain the clock to expire time to walk away with a 1-0 win. Next up the number 2 seed Montgomery of Santa Rosa.
Last night, CB found themselves again on the road to face the number 2 seed Montgomery of Santa Rosa. Again we seemed to come out slow and not very technical sound. Montgomery scored first on what appeared to be an offside score. The assistant referee said that there was no offside but goalkeeper Lauren Town ‘20 was inside the box behind her line as the Montgomery player received and played the ball into the goal. The half came to an end 1-0 to the host. In the second half we still struggled to combined and find our game. With less than 10 minutes left, Lexi Rakela (21) found the back of the net to spark a late charge from our Lady Falcons. Within that small time frame we had several chances to tie the game but it was too little too late. The final score 2-1 in favor of Montgomery. This would end the run and the year for The Lady Falcons. It was a good year and a tough 2 weeks. The season overall record would be 14-8-5. Congratulations for a great run at League, Sections and Nor Cal Regionals. See you next year!
JV Softball
With preseason scrimmages behind them, JV softball played their first game of the season visiting Inderkum High on March 3. Our Lady Falcons were eager to get the real games started opening the first inning scoring 3 runs. Unfortunately, this was short lived with the defense allowing 4 runs in the bottom half of the first inning and another 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Inderkum’s lead proved to be too much for our Falcons to overcome and CB takes the 5-12 loss. Pitcher Olicia Martinez ’23 started on the mound and Lilliana Sanchez ’22 took over in relief after 1 inning and pitched admirably to hold the Inderkum lead to a minimum. Sanchez ‘22 had 7 strikeouts and allowed only 3 hits in her debut. On a positive note, CB softball outhit their opponent 10 hits to 9. Key hitters: Tori Becker ’23 2x5, Bianca Flores ’22 2x3 2 Runs, Sarai Rice ’22 2 RBI, and Jenna Puumala ’22 2x3 Double 3 RBI. The team looks to clean up their defense while maintaining consistency at the plate. Next up will be a few away trips to Ponderosa (March 9) and an important league match vs Vista del Lago (March 12) leading into Inderkum’s Tournament (March 13-14). Go Brothers! Record 0-1

Freshman Baseball
The Frosh Falcons baseball team opened up the season yesterday at home against Jesuit High School. The final score was 10-1 with a Jesuit win. Standout players for CB were Mick Powell ‘23 pitching a scoreless 7th inning and going 1-1 at the plate. Also collecting hits were Dylan Drake ‘23 and Cameron Crowley ‘23. The Falcons play Bear Creek HS in Stockton Ca. this Saturday at 11am as they look to bounce back.
Varsity Baseball
Looking to capitalize on last year’s season, the CB varsity baseball team is ready to take it to the next level. With key returning players, and the addition of hungry juniors, the Falcons look the push the level of play. On the mound, pay close attention to the three starting pitchers. Senior stud, Jordan Gonzales ‘20, looks to make his mark as the ACE of the rotation. Two juniors fill in as the #2 and #3 starters: Gabe Maya ‘21 and Bryan Garrett ‘21; both bolster the overall bulldog mentality on the mound. Do not forget returning junior, George Rios ‘21, as he will be a huge contributor in spot starts, long relief and in closing situations. Lastly, look for senior flame-thrower, Reed Mercer ‘20, on the mound. Reed has shown early dominance in preseason games, and will get the ball in difficult situations.
Not to lose focus on the remaining line-up, the Falcons definitely upgraded in all aspects this year across the diamond. Returning sluggers, seniors Kevin Rios ‘20 and Max Martinez ‘20, will bookend the outfield and look to rip in the middle of the batting order. The infield will be young this year, as junior standouts look to make their mark on the big stage. Look for breakout seasons from Dylan Brown ‘21 and Logan Wurm ‘21, who will anchor the middle of the infield. Junior do-it-all George Rios, will return to third base. At first base, look for junior slugger Justin Douglas ‘21 and senior Reed Mercer. Both will also steady the ship behind the dish, as will Max Martinez.
CB has started off well, going 3-0 in early preseason scrimmages. They look to build on their successes as they move toward league play. With four preseason games remaining, the Falcons cannot afford to take any time off.
Grab your boots, lace them up, and get ready for an exciting baseball season. It'll be one you don't want to miss.
