The Christian Brothers Falcons defeated the Del Campo Cougars 41-7 on Friday. Quarterback Jacob Stewart ‘21 went 14 of 18 passing for 248 yards and 4 touchdowns, good for a perfect 158.6 passer rating. Luke Jones ‘20 finished as the leading receiver with 6 receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one rushing touchdown. Reed Mercer ‘20 was the leading rusher, finishing with 13 carries for 52 yards. Logan Wurm ‘21 got his first reception of the year, and finished with 1 reception for 30 yards. Kicker Jackson Ryan ‘20 was a perfect 5-5 on extra points, and also contributed a 38 yard field goal and a season long 42 yard field goal.
Christian Brothers started the game off hot, scoring on their opening possession. They tacked on three more touchdowns in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 28-0 lead. The offensive line continuously dominated the Cougars throughout the game, finishing with 9 pancake blocks overall. Every starting member of the line had at least one pancake block. The Falcon defense held Del Campo scoreless until the final minute of the game. Nate Smith ‘21 and Reed Mercer '20 both had fumble recoveries.
Christian Brothers is now 6-3 overall and 3-2 in league. The Falcons take on Sacramento High School in their final regular season game of the year on Friday. The game is at 7:15 pm at Hughes Stadium.
