Women’s Varsity Lacrosse
Varsity Lacrosse fought a skilled Berkeley High team in the pouring rain, they lost 8-13. However, the score does not show how hard they hustled the whole game. Goals were scored by Ashlinn Phipps ’19, Ari Castillo ’19, Sydney Obmann ‘20 and Lily Witry ‘20. They hope to bounce back next week again Bella Vista and Vista Del Lago
Women’s JV Lacrosse
Played their first game against Berkeley High and lost 2-13. Gia Stark ‘22 scored the first goal of the season and a first-ever goal for her. The team learned a lot about flow of the game. Friday they scrimmaged St. Francis. The score wasn’t kept but they enjoyed the experience.
Men’s Lacrosse
Men’s lacrosse had a tough game at Jesuit this week, but the bright spots in the game were the first scores of the season by Tyler Valerio ’21 and Matt Solari ’21. The offense continued to play strong, with several shots on goal that were almost perfect. The team travels to Stockton to play St. Mary’s this Friday night and travels to Vista del Lago next week.
Varsity Softball
We are still on our undefeated streak (three scrimmage wins). Rain has prevented us from playing. So far, we have rescheduled 3 games and cancelled one.
However, the weather looks to be cooperating and we should get in two games today, Madera and Douglas, Nevada.
Everyone seems more than ready to go. No injuries and no illnesses. We will be solid defensively, with veteran players at all positions. However, not being able to actually hit live pitching is cause for some concern. Douglas, like us, will be playing their first game of the season but Madera (5-4) has nine games under their belts.
Men’s Tennis
We lost to River City 5-3 despite some great performances. Chris Fong ('20) playing # 1 singles won going away (6-2, 6-0). Brandon Luong ('19) playing his first singles match won (6-3, 6-4). In the match of the day, Ryan Price ('21) came from behind in a stirring performance watched by both teams and supporters. Ryan won (7-6, 5-7, 10-8). He was down 3-8 in the third set tiebreaker before reeling off 7 in a row to win 10-8. We face Kennedy, and Capital Christian next week.
Boys Varsity Volleyball
Varsity men’s volleyball brought in two more wins this week with exciting performances over league opponents Sac High and Capital Christian. On Friday, the falcons took on the dragons at home, dominating in straight sets ( 25-9, 25-11, 25-16). Sophomore Nathan Hatch ’21 made his debut back from a knee injury, leading his team in kills with 9. On the service line, Jack Milliken ’19 racked up the points with 6 aces. Overall, an impressive performance from the falcons. On Wednesday, CB hosted Capital Christian and although they dropped the first set (23-25), they were able to bounce back and secure the win in the next three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-12). Liam Rapp ’20 lead his team in serve receive passes with 13 allowing for a strong offensive performance from Riley Piccione ’20 with 7 kills. Tonight CB travels to Rio to continue league action.
Boys JV Volleyball
JV Boys Volleyball met up again with West Campus on Friday. We were given a chance to redeem ourselves and we DID! We lost the first set 25-18, came back and won second set 25-12, and the final set 15-4. We had an impressve amount of serving, kills, and blocks that assisted in this win! Ryan Rodriguez '22 had 1 Kill, 3 Digs, 3 Aces, Josh Elboom '22 had 3 Digs and 1 Ace, John Piegaro '22 had 5 Kills, 2 Blocks, 8 Digs, and 2 Aces, Nick Edgar '22 had 1 Kill, 7 Digs, 1 Ace, Christian Watkins '22 had 7 Digs and 2 Aces, Tim Warford '21 had 3 Kills, 6 Blocks, Miguel Maestu '21 had 1 Kill, Cade Berglund '21 had Block, Karsten Thomas '22 had 1 Block, Brenton Grandstaff '22 had 4 Digs. We then matched up with Capitol Christian but unfortunately they had to forfeit due to not having enough healthy players. Although the match was a forfeit, the two teams played in a scrimmage. We took a slow start and lost the first set.We then regrouped and decided to play as a team and took the next two sets to make the Win official. We did change things up a bit and the whole team was able to see court time resulting in some great stats! Ryan Rodriguez '22 had 2 Kills, 2 Blocks and 1 Ace, John Piegaro '22 had 1 Kill 9 Digs and 9 Aces, Nick Edgar '22 had 2 Kills, 2 Blocks, and 3 digs, Liam Fischer '22 had 3 Aces, Tim Warford '21 had 2 Kills, 5 Blocks and 3 Aces, Miguel Maestu '21 had 2 Kills, Manuel Ortega-Cano '22 had 4 Digs, Marcos Galvan '22 had 2 Digs, Brenton Grandstaff '22 had 5 Digs.
