This past Monday, the softball team took on a tough Del Campo team in a league match up. The Falcons scored an early run in the second inning to lead by one. The Falcons starting pitcher, Cece Sidley ‘19, shut down the Cougars for the first three innings. By the fourth inning however, the Cougars were able to tie the game 1-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Karina Brouwer ‘19 laid down a perfect bunt single followed by Hannah Gruber’s '19 sacrifice bunt. Giana Hays ‘19 was walked, which brought Gina Matista ‘19 up with runners on first and second. With bases loaded, freshman Marissa Alders ‘22 hit a walk off double to end the game.
Senior Jessica Hennelly ‘19 said that “this was probably the best win we have had in 4 years. It was a complete team effort and everyone was involved in contributing to the great win."
This win brings the Falcons tied for first in league. The Falcons must beat Vista Del Lago on April 10th and Del Campo on April 12th to secure the league banner. The Falcons next game is an away, non-league match up against Inderkum on this Wednesday.
